I'm trying to identify a story - allegedly a European fairytale - about a girl making a deal with a wizard to acquire a pair of red shoes (so long as she did a favour for him). She neglects to do said favour and he later emerges from her wall clock and takes her away, where she is made to sew stars into the sky as punishment. The reason I'm asking is because there was a short animation that appeared on the Nickelodeon show Pinwheel in the 1980s (possibly 1970s) with that very concept and I am trying to track it down. It's known amongst lost media enthusiasts as "Clock Man".
My thoughts are that, if I were able to identify the tale from which the animation was adapted - and, as I mentioned, several people have alluded to a European fairy tale matching that description - then I may be one step closer to tracking down the short.
So... Does this story ring any bells? Thanks in advance for any help you guys are able to provide.
