Christmas Fairy Tales? |

I'm a little late here but is there a list of Christmas Fairy Tales anywhere? Are there any that spring to mind? I'm drawing a complete blank!

In The Elves and the Shoemaker, the discovery is made, and the gifts to the elves, around Christmas.
Tatterhood meets up with the trolls and witches on Christmas and her sister suffers the enchantement that starts the story. The Cat on the Dovrefell also features a Christmas invasion. In Why the Sea Is Salt, the poor brother goes begging on Christmas Eve. Hans Christian Andersen also has a number that feature Christmas. |

"Nutcracker" count? How about "Snow Queen" (even if it doesn't technically take place at Christmas?)

Many of Andersen's are Christmas based -- The Fir Tree -- but I find they are often those least like folk fairy tales.

Thackeray's The Rose and the Ring is a twelfth night tale, using twelfth night archetypes, so I'd class it as a Christmas fairy tale. You can
find it on Project Gutenberg and Bibliomania, I think; there's a Jack Zipes collection with it as well.

The Nutcracker is a fairytale. WIth a broad definition, Terry Pratchett's HOgfather works well. And Gift of the Magi. There's also Politically Correct
Holiday Stories, for some spoofs.
