Posts: 1 (02/17/08 01:16:08) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : fairytale, illustration, contemporary, illustrator, fairy tale, drawing, theatre, current Hi all, If you know of any good contemporary fairy tale illustrators please could you post their names (and any good books or websites you might know of) i am interested in all different styles of illustration.... I am a theatre design student about to design for a play called 'fairytaleheart' about two children who make up their own fairy tales as a way of exploring/dealing with problems in thier own lives. For part of my research i want to look at the work of various illustrators, i already have lots of people from the early part of the 20th century such as Kay Nielsen, Arthur Rackham, Walter Crane etc. but i am struggling to find a list of contemporary fairy tale illustrators... any help much appreciated..... I tend to go for achingly beautiful fairy tale illustrations and hers definitely qualify (I am a fan of the Pre-Raphaelites, and her art reminds me of them). I also adore Nancy Ekholm Burkert. She's best known for illustrating James and the Giant Peach, but her illustrations for Hans Christian Andersen's The Nightengale are gorgeous. My favourite children's book of all time is her Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. There has never been a more beautiful version. Visit my Pre-Raphaelite inspired blog, The Earthly Paradise

Though her fairy tale and mythology pictures are more often more "interpretations" than illustrations.

We featured one of her illustrations here on the Dante's Heart blog. You can see more of her work at her MySpace page.
