In less than a month, I will be a panelist and moderator for a panel at a local sci fi/fantasy convention. The panel is called "Shrek's Labyrinth" and it's about fairy tale use in modern movies. The panel description is:
"Fairy tales are making their way into movies... and not all in the Disney tradition. "Pan's Labyrinth", Neil Gaiman's "Stardust", "Shrek" and more... how do you feel today's studios are treating these subjects? Are they adult enough? Too much so?"
I would love some input from all of you on things that you would want to see brought up in a panel such as this, general leading questions for the audience, etc.
As far as a list of Fairy Tale movies goes, (I'd like to stick to relatively recent or quite popular ones) I have:
Shrek
Pan's Labyrinth
Princess Bride
Brothers Grimm
The 10th Kingdom
Snow White: A Tale of Terror
Perfume
Enchanted
Neverending Story
Ella Enchanted
Ever After
Labyrinth
Snow White: The Fairest of Them All
Disney movies
Any others anyone can think of?
Thanks so much!
