My Mum remembers a play of Cinderella written in rhyming couplets which her aunts used to perform at family gatherings. She recalls hearing it as a child
(circa 1950) but it certainly goes back at least to when the generation above were young (c. 1925). We know some lines from it, for example Cinderella says
"Please, Sister Dear, you promised me one day last year that I could go to parties too, when I was quite grown up like you." The reply from an ugly
sister (which the whole family joined in with!) was "IS THE GIRL MAD?".
That's all we have but does anyone out there know this version or have any suggestions for finding a script? It has obviously been passed down orally in my family but we think there was a book 'once upon a time'!
